Chloe has a rare disease called Friedrichs Ataxia. This is a motor neurone, disease; it is incurable, and life limiting as it attacks the heart muscles. Chloe is provided with an electric wheelchair, but now needs a replacement manual chair. Her condition involves deterioration of spine, so an everyday indoor chair needs replacing frequently to accommodate this. Now that Chloe is 18 - an adult in terms of social provision - she has to finance her own 'indoor' chair. She has saved £100 from her Disability Allowance- and family have been able to contribute another £200. A suitable wheelchair costs £1000.
