The residents agreed to the Parish Council buying the fields for the village to use as a community area and woodland. The area is being developed by a volunteer management team to create a new woodland, the first in the parish, walking routes including access to the Viking Way which runs through the Parish but with no access from the village, a dog walking area, wildflower and native bulbs and when the trees grow, 3 acres of totally new woodland. Part of the plan is creating a cycle track for our youngsters, which will run through the trees as well as an area for residents to plant their own trees in memory of loved ones, this will not be a formal area but more one of quiet reflection. We want to achieve freedom to exercise in a variety of ways, offering various distances for walking, which in turn will promote a healthier life style for residents but also encourage our younger residents to experience nature first hand. This should result in greater well-being of our residents.
