On the 27th May 2017 I will be volunteering for the Lourdes Pillgramage in France. I have had the privilege to volunteer for two years and this is my third and final year having the opportunity to make a difference.

Lourdes Pillgramage is a place where the sick and terminally ill attend to help them to feel better. When I arrive at Lourdes I am based in the hospital with the terminally ill, I take it as a privilege to be with each and everyone of them and I have learnt so much from coming into contact with such a variety of people from all walks of life and from all nationalities and backgrounds. When I am there I help to feed those who have limited movement, transport those in wheelchairs, entertain on the wards within the hospital, to clean the toilets and beds, but most importantly to help the sick who are visiting Lourdes to take away an experience which they can cherish and hold on to.

Even though this is only for a short time, I help those who I am with escape the thoughts of terminal illness to absorb and enjoy such a uplifting and spiritual place.

In order to make my final trip to Lourdes possible I need to fundraise the remaining amount of £200 as this money is for my transport and basic accommodation.
