    Story

From a very young age, I have always pondered on the words “Innalillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajioon”-which in Arabic means ‘we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return’. We will depart from this world with no tangible wealth and whatever we do or give whilst we are alive will be an investment for the Akhirah (afterlife). I have observed some people who have amassed fortunes only for the pleasures of this world, only to leave it to those who have not utilised it for good causes. I wanted to plan something which will benefit students, family, friends and obviously myself to inherit the vast rewards from our Creator in which He reminds us about our imminent death and where the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) advised us to benefit mankind.

Hence I have collaborated with my close confidants to structure a plan to proceed:

Phase 1) To conduct free Quranic lessons for under-privileged children under the supervision of professional teachers. Once established, we will plan for further classes for adults God-willing.

Phase 2) To provide accommodation for up to 6 orphans (various ages) and provide education for them to better themselves for their future by attaining life skills.

The name ‘RUMAH NGAJI SHEIKH’ was chosen after a visit to an establishment in Ampangan run by a lovely couple named Haji Mahmoud and his wife Nadia who had impressed me with their concept of sponsoring and conducting free Quranic lessons under a national incentive known as ‘Rumah Ngaji’ (translated as ‘House of learning’). I therefore plunged at the idea. The name ‘Sheikh’ is in memory of my father who I admire with utmost respect in how he single-handedly brought his family of 14 children on one man’s earnings and we were not deprived of anything. That I feel is something I would like to return as a daughter to my beloved parents.

I feel so blessed, honoured and grateful for God’s Guidance and I will try my utmost in accomplishing my target. I am grateful to all who have invested in any form towards this project and help to inspire others to do whatever they can to attain the best place; Paradise. Time is precious. I sincerely pray Allah helps us in every step we take to make this an achievable and successful venture Ameen.

Lastly a humble request that whoever reads the above statement makes a sincere prayer for Rumah Ngaji Sheikh! Jazakallah Khairan and thank you! Asmat Sheikh
