Louis is a little boy from Burscough who was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy back in December 2016. Duchenne muscular dystrophy is the most common genetic killer of children worldwide. It leads to progressive muscle degeneration and weakness which results in sufferers becoming wheelchair dependent between the ages of 8 and 12 years old. Louis parents, Laura and Phil, have started their own charity, Lifting Louis, which funds Duchenne UK, another charity which funds clinical research and trials for children who have this condition.
