Story
Members of Barbelle Gym in Scarborough became aware of Thalia, a little girl who was diagnosed with Restrictive Cardiomyopathy in November 2018 and wanted to do what they could to help.
Restrictive Cardiomyopathy is an extremely rare heart condition, there is no medicine or cure and the only treatment is a transplant. The condition can also cause pressure on the lunges, and heartbreakingly for Thalia this has happened and at the moment she needs both a heart and lung transplant, but due to her size she is too small to be viable for any type of transplant.
Thalia is now under the care of Great Ormond Street and the hope is that they can reduce the pressure on her lungs so that she can be listed for a new heart. The family have every faith in this wonderful hospital and are now planning on making life for Thalia as fun and enjoyable as possible.
On October 12th, a team of 28 Barbelle members will climb Mount Snowdon together with the aim of raising money to send Thalia on her dream holiday to Disney. The hope is that they can contribute as much as possible towards this trip of a lifetime and the creation of unforgettable memories for this special little girl and her family.
