Story
UPDATE 04.11.17 : I have extended the deadline in an attempt to raise the funds we need to get Barnaby treated. The poor bun is in a tremendous amount of pain with his eye and even with daily doses of metacam will just sit alone for hours unless stimulated or groomed. Once the eye and abscess are removed he will be much improved, and happier. If you can spare but a pound, you will be contributing towards helping him live the life he deserves.
UPDATE 30.10.17 : Barnaby is going to have his eye removed. The vets have offered a very generous deal where for £210 they'll remove his eye and neuter him at he same time so that he will only go under anaesthetic once. This price includes the antibiotics and painkillers for recovery. So I have changed the target to reflect this.
UPDATE 19.10.2017 : Barnaby has been diagnosed with a retrobulbar abscess. He's on antibiotics and metacam for now until I can afford the surgery or drainage.
UPDATE: His left eye may need to be removed. As such, the amount we need to raise has significantly increased. Every little helps!
Barnaby is a rabbit that was rescued from severe neglect. His fur was matted, he is very underweight and is blind in his left eye due to an infection that the original owners did not bother to treat.
He weighs a meagre 1.15kg due to being fed a diet of mostly celery. His fur had never seen a brush and he was severely matted and stained. He was utterly terrified of anything and everything and has never seen grass.
I was told when I went to rescue him that he'd been neutered and vaccinated. I found out today this is not the case. I can't claim to be surprised, given that he was living in a box and being fed predominantly on celery.
Please, if you have even a penny to spare... help Barnaby. He deserves so much better than the life that was dealt to him. He is by far the sweetest and most docile rabbit I've ever met and I want to give him the quality of life he deserves. He is in a lot of pain and deserves none of it.
