Story
Barry's Story - Around 14 years ago, Barry broke his ankle during a game of rugby and ended his playing days. A few years later he broke the same ankle again while refereeing a game, arthritis set in and it became extremely painful. 6 years ago he had a total ankle replacement this gave him some relief from the pain but it was short lived and the pain became progressively worse until he had another replacement 2 year ago. Unfortunately this one was never successful. So after 2 years of various treatments and investigations and with the pain worse thanever it was agreed the best course of action was to have a lower leg amputation that was carried out on 23/02/2017. He will need adaptions to his house to allow him to independently i.e. alteration to stairs, ramps. He will also need a decent lightweight wheelchair.
Decent wheelchair approx. £2000
Adaptions £1000

8 years agoSo I've done it! 83.5miles in all what with riding to and from the CycloPark. So pleased with my time, I still cant believe how I managed to finish the second half of the course so fast, so fast I managed to miss one of the turns. Anyway, big thank you to everyone who has sponsored me and helped to make things better easier for Barry, I hope all the money raised will get Barry what he needs and get him back to as much as a normal life again as possible. E Z Now! P.S any last minute donations are welcome 😜🚴🚴🚴

8 years agoDidn't have a clue where abouts I was, but it seemed like a good place and safe road for a rolling photo. Some Kentish Orchard somewhere in... Urm! Kent?

Since losing 15 stone, I've made it my goal to help raise £££ for charities & good causes. I'll be cycling 80+ miles around Kent on Good Friday, helping raise some funds to help Barry buy himself a wheelchair & pay for some adaptations to his home, after having his leg amputated.
