PLEASE READ
Those that know me know that having the time to train for anything is not always in my favour but I have a place in this year's Great North Run and I Will get to the finish line and receive my medal!
I would however, like to put this challenge to good use and raise some funds for two personal causes which are close to my heart...
1. Firstly, I would like to raise some money to donate to the Sheffield Hallamshire Neuro Critical Care Unit and this is the reason why....On Friday 16th December 2016 my Mum, Amanda Brough, collapsed with what she thought was a stroke but this turned out to be a severe Brain Aneurysm and the next few days were a bit harrowing for us all. The care she received from this unit was absolutely amazing and we were very blessed that with the expertise of the surgeon she survived the touch and go surgery that was carried out. We, as a family, cannot thank them enough!
2. The second cause that I would like to raise money for is for my very special friend Sarah Brigg's family charity in the memory of her lovely Mum, Jane Bayley, who devastatingly lost her battle to aggressive cancer just a week later. Whilst Jane was staying at the Almeria hospital in Spain she was unable to go outside as they have no gardens. Sarah and Gary (Sarah's husband) and their family are raising funds to build a garden in memory of Jane so that others who are being treated at the hospital can enjoy time out of the ward with their family/friends and have the opportunity to relax in a tranquil environment which will be created in the hospital grounds. Gary will be taking on a 2000km cycle ride from Walberswick in Suffolk to Lubrin in Spain at the end of September. I would very much like to show my support by helping them raise some much needed funds.
