So..... Our Ben 28yrs old, the brother, the clown, the career lad, the annoying ratbag, the uncle, the Daddy to Jacob age 2, the Son, the footballer, the clever-arse, one of the lads, the annoying BMW driver. Our Ben.

Wilsons Disease-a rare genetic disease (1:33,000) which is an accumulation of copper in the body got hold of Ben in his brain. We have watched over the last 18months his personality and behaviour change and now his motor skills and learnt how debilitating this is. We have a great doctor who specializes in WD but not many other doctors know much. It's hard. WD is cruel, seriously debilitating and different in every patient as we have been told. Not one Wilson patient is the same. Ben is currently trialling a Parkinson's drug which we hope will give some relief from the tremors that are constant. We don't know if it will work, we don't know what is coming next or when he will turn a corner, but we know, that he needs more aids at home, he needs 24/7 care. We know Ben will get worse before better, that is the nature of the chelating drug penicillamine which he has to take and also the disease. Ben will turn a corner and start to improve, we just don't know when but we do know we are definitely going to beat this.

Many friends have asked what can they do to help so it has led me to build this page. All donations raised will help Ben in his treatment, recovery and care. This could be neuro physio, oxygen chamber, holistic medicines, additional care, and any other help we may find we need along the way.

Ben has often liked a flutter and this is one gamble that we know he is going to WIN!
