I first went to Puerto Rico two years ago and I was astounded by its incredible natural beauty and extremely friendly people, so it quickly became my favourite place on earth. When I heard how much destruction Hurricane Maria has left on the island it broke my heart, and I wanted to do something to help, even if it's a small thing, to raise money for those in need.

Hurricane Maria was the most powerful hurricane to have hit Puerto Rico in 89 years and it has left the island and its people absolutely devastated. For most, power and water is still impossible to come by and the president of the US has been disturbingly slow to react seriously to the crisis. It has already caused 15 deaths on the island and could cause many more as the hospitals simply cannot cope with the power cuts and the lack of medical supplies.

I have decided to run a half-marathon here in Barcelona in December called the CEC-Collserola (http://collserola.cec.cat/info-cursa/) and in exchange I ask for you to kindly donate to the cause! Every single penny of what I receive will go to a charity set up by the first lady of Puerto Rico, Beatriz Rosselló called Unidos por Puerto Rico. UPPR helps victims of Hurricane Irma and Maria on the island and helps finance the rebuilding of infrastructure damaged beyond repair (http://unidosporpuertorico.com/en/). All administrative costs associated with running the race will be covered by me and I will post proof of payment at the end of the process.
