My name is Bobby and I am 8 years old.

On the 19th November 2015, when I was just 6years old my life changed forever. I was diagnosed with the life threatening autoimmune disease that is type 1 Diabetes.

The last two years have been a challenge for myself and my family, learning daily how to keep me alive. This requires constant monitoring of my blood sugars, this means on average I have to do 10 finger prick tests a day. After a long period of time this can cause nerve damage to the ends of my fingers. Fortunately, there is equipment out there that can help with this, libre sensors are something that can be inserted into my arm which will enable me to scan for my blood sugar reading instead of the finger prick test. Unfortunately, the NHS cannot provide these for everyone, they cost around £50 each and only last between 7-10days.

On Sunday 4th March some of my family will be taking on the challenge of climbing mount Snowdon so we are raising money today to help myself and diabetes UK in the hope that one day we will find a cure. All proceeds raised will be equally split between Diabetes UK and funding for the equipment I need to stay alive.
