Story
The residents of Bournville have been severely let down by Birmingham City Council's Planning Department.
Thanks to an administrative error, planning permission has been granted BY DEFAULT, for Vodafone and O2 to install a 17.5m phone mast on the corner of Hawthorne Rd and Heath Rd. This mast will sit close to public parks and conservation areas in a beautiful part of this historical urban village.
We fear it will not only be a blight on the beauty of the area but will cause an accident black spot for the many school children and commuters who use the busy junction, largely thanks to three 1.7m cabinets.
There are other sites this mast can be positioned that wouldn't put local residents at risk. We have joined forces with BVT and local councillors to halt this process and work with the phone companies to identify an alternative location.
We also need to mount a swift legal challenge of the approved application and therefore need to raise an initial £1500 to cover legal fees.
BVT, local councillors and our MP are all in support but we also feel it necessary to act swiftly as residents by mounting a legal case.
Thanks in advance for any donation to towards our target.
