We are Britain Behind the Mask, a project using story-telling, mask-making and visual arts to offer a free space for silenced communities to find their voice and speak their stories. We then create a piece of visual art which can allow people to share their stories and be heard.

The events of 2020 have highlighted the disparity across Britain whilst silencing people in certain communities. Domestic abuse survivors have been part of a 'shadow panedmic', marches and protests have been broken up, many like George Flloyd have been quite literally silenced.

Britain Behind the Mask aim to offer a space for people to creatively tell their stories in a way which can protect their identity if they choose, but allow for their experiences to be witnessed and valued. We need to see what is Behind the Mask.

Your contribution will allow us to provide these workshops for free to people who cannot afford them, and will cover the cost of facilitation fees and materials. We estimate that one workshop of 4 hours costs £550.
