Story
Our volunteers at The Brora Village Hub Community Larder work hard all year round and even more so in these difficult times. Recently the team have been working round the clock to provide essential food items to those in need. They begin by sourcing funding and donations, collecting food items from all around, making up food parcels and delivering them to people in need - the list of what these guys do is endless! Unfortunately lately awful events have happened, the food shed has been sabotaged on a few occassions.
Yvonne's statement today: "Following on from Kath’s earlier post, a quick recap on today’s sad state of affairs...this evening started off so well with Poppy and I receiving another donation from the Co-op of £250 to help with foodbank shopping...we then took our massive fruit and veg delivery round to the hub for our parcels tomorrow...we found that half of the herbs we had planted on Saturday night had been dug out of the planter...2 of the garden sheds had been broken into...the freezer full of shopping purchased on Friday for tomorrow’s parcels had been sabotaged leaving us with hundreds of pounds worth of food, destined for folk tomorrow, ruined...heartbreaking. we are volunteers all trying so hard to help others and would give anyone anything if they were in need - you just have to ask....totally gutted. Police have been informed of all of these acts as well as other incidents which were reported to them last week and the previous week. We should not have to spend money on cctv etc when folk are in need of us to use limted resources to buy groceries for food parcels which will be lighter than normal tomorrow due to the sabotage in the shed this afternoon"
We are creating this page in hope that we can come together and donate to enable the hub to purchase CCTV and be able to replace the items that have been sabotaged. What these volunteers are doing is absolutely outstanding and it would be such a loss to the village if they had to stop.
