Story
The Communities Against Digester (CAD) group has been formed by concerned local residents in order to help the community fight any proposal for an Industrial Sized Anaerobic Digester to be situated on a greenfield site so close to Leven, Catwick, Long Riston, Tickton, Brandesburton and Skirlaugh in the beautiful East Riding of Yorkshire.
The community of approximately 7000 local residents believe that this proposal is on an inappropriate site for its size, and that the rural environment and the health and well-being of our residents need to be protected.
Two applications have been rejected by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council which was an outstanding success for the community (thank you for your 1000+ letters of objection) but now we are faced with fighting an appeal.
This means that legal consultation, expert knowledge and representation in the field will be required, which we must procure ourselves. This is why CAD are now stepping up our fund raising activities.
We are organizing fund raising activities each month in 2018 to help raise the finances for this and your on going support, both financially, and with your time and ideas is greatly appreciated.

6 years agoWE HAVE WON! Well, so far we have. We still need to pay bills but for now the applicant has pulled out. Thank you so much for everyones kind donations, we could not have done this without your help. Please HOLD on any further donations for now. If the applicant decides to apply again, which he could do very easily, then CAD will be seeking further funding. However for now we are in a good place financially. Please watch out on the Facebook groups for any celebratory parties and join in with us in making the most of this moment.

7 years agoThe inspectorate selected is looking at BOTH appeals. This means all the letter writing needs to be submitted twice! Once for each application appeal - 17/00073/REFUSE and 18/00004/REFUSE. In order to fight these, CAD are employing the use of Expert Witnesses and Lawyers / Barristers to help build the case against each appeal. These are very expensive. We cannot fight this without the communities help. Please donate, and write your letters and tell the inspector why this huge industrial site will visually blight our countryside. Thank you

7 years agoAn inspectorate has now been selected for the appeal which means that we need to raise our game very quickly. The total raised across all our efforts is currently around 4,000. We estimate 30,000 is whats going to be needed. Please help by donating. We cannot fight this without your local support. Thank you so much, Communities Against Digester.
