This beautiful and kind lady here, the glue that holds our family together. Is asking for help, for the first time in her life.. Ever since she had my sister, then my brother, then me.. Her needs meant nothing to her, it was all about us..Now its time for us to help her and give her the one thing she’s always wanted. To be happy. You see, along with my nan and my auntie she has a condition called Lipodema, it is a chronic fat disorder that takes no prisoners, left untreated it may then go on to Lymphedema as her lymphatic system is already severely impaired. With the Lipodema she has (Type 2), it targets her buttocks down to her knees, becoming enlarged, forming a “doughy” like fat

This condition causes my mother excruciating pain, she bruises with the slightest touch, she aches, she can barely walk multiple times a day. We believe this is the cause for her now having arthritis in her hip. This is becoming worse for her to deal with, finding it extremely hard to walk. And the worst part? is her feeling as though she is “fat”, “disgusting”. Something we all know she is far from, because of this. She started slimming world, going on to lose 3 stone in “normal” fat, leaving her with only “lippy” fat.

There is only ONE way this can be treated and that is tumescent liposuction under general anaesthetic, which is NOT funded by the NHS. The surgeon she has now been to see has given her a waist-hip ratio of 0.72 (anything lower than 0.7 indicates a significant body disproportion between the upper and lower halves). He has said (thankfully!) she only needs one operation, but this is going to set her back £5500. Which of course, for a person who has given her life to her children (mainly me, who she has had to give up work for to become my carer), is almost impossible to raise. I’m asking you, begging you all from the bottom of my heart to help the most important person in our family.
