Weʼre raising £1,700 to help support my son Matthew and his family in a crisis

Don't have time to donate right now?

Story

To help fund my son Matthew and his wife Lisa and his children Courtney and Kain, who at this horrendous time need to be at his bedside everyday to keep talking to him, as he is in a coma fighting for his life

Lisa and Courtney have had to take time off work both have jobs that don’t pay you if your off, I’m helping as much as I can financially but I’m on a pension and registered blind so any support to help them pay the rent, council tax put food on the table getting to and from the hospital would be gratefully received

On the 25th March, Matthew who is 42 yrs old suddenly with no warning had a massive heart attack and died but with many thanks to a neighbor Miriam who helped to do CPR until the ambulance crew arrived they got his heart going again. He is now in hospital in a coma and is hooked up to every machine going, we don’t know if he will come out of the coma or if he does will he be brain dead, as you can imagine this is not only heartbreaking but mentally exhausting for his wife and kids Thank you from a distraught mum.

Week 5 There has been such a lot happening in the past week, Matthew has gone from eating pureed food to having a big mac last friday, he is also, with help, learning how to walk again and use his hands to hold cutlery to be able to eat independently. He is still on a lot of medication and still in intensive care because of his memory problems which we hope will get better as time goes by.

Lisa and myself are having to stay over at the hospital in turns so that he has someone with him at all times. He tends to wake around 3am on the ward and has no idea what's happening so he starts to panic. That's when we need to be there to reassure him. We are hoping he is going to be moved onto a normal ward soon then that will be the next step to getting him home.

Fantastic news, this week Matthew had his Tracheostomy and he has improved so much each day since, then they fitted a voice box and he spoke to us yesterday and he knew who we all were. He still has no control over the movement of his limbs yet and he still has pneumonia but todays another day. We still have a way to go yet but at least it's more positive now. Thanks again for all your support I don't know what we would have done without it. xxx
