Story
Carol Harris passed away on 10th August. To Willow, Breeze and me, she was our mum but she touched so many more lives through her work running Jaybeth Animal Sanctuary for over 40 years. She dedicated her life to the animals and so many people gained a beloved family pet because of her, or spent time at the Sanctuary with her and the animals. This page is not specifically for fundraising but to let you know how you can help, donate or pay tribute, if you would like to.
The animals at the Sanctuary are still being cared for and will benefit from your love and support just as they always have. If you would like to contribute, there are lots of ways that you can:
- As always, donations of blankets and animal food are very welcome. Cat and dog food is always needed but the sheep, horse, ducks, chickens and wildlife also appreciate your help. Please feel free to drop food off directly.
- Many of you will know that Carol often asked people to make financial donations to her vet, rather than directly to her. The wonderful David Urwin & Associates in Linton have supported the sanctuary throughout the years, covering many emergencies and long-term care. If you would like to contribute to these ongoing costs please donate directly using the following BACS details: SC - 40-16-08, Account - 11416928, please give the reference 'Jaybeth'.
- Volunteering: so many people helped over the years with walking dogs or providing practical help with repairs, cleaning and other things. If you have some spare time and would like to help, please either visit the Sanctuary directly or call 07564466241 and speak to Len.
- Financial donations: if you would like to make a financial donation you can do so here or alternatively donate cash directly at the Sanctuary. As we will soon be coming in to autumn the biggest running costs will be the electricity needed to keep all of the animals warm by using infra-red heatlamps which are very cosy for the animals but costly to run.
- Share your stories and photos: it is a great comfort to us and a wonderful tribute to Carol to see and hear the stories and photos of animals that she rescued and re-homed over the years. Please continue to share these on Facebook, or to take or send physical cards or photos to the Sanctuary, or to share them at our online tribute page: https://carolharrisjaybeth.muchloved.com/

Your mum must have done so much good for animals and wildlife, you must be so proud of her. Long may the sanctuary continue, carrying on her fantastic work.
