Story
This Summer I will spend five weeks volunteering in the Zambian village of Kazemba with the intention of supporting the community in order to make a positive difference.
'Kazemba is a village of poverty and approximately half of the 300 children in the School are identified as vulnerable and single or double orphans'.
My role as a teaching assistant in the local school will be based on supporting the children and local community with improving their English skills in order to progress with their education and ultimately, help them to attain a better future.
In previous years, the Volunteer Zambia has helped to build toilets for the pupils, despite the village having no access to running water. The team has also helped to provide better school supplies and resources in order to improve the school as a whole. This year we hope to carry out similar things.
I am aiming to raise £2000 in order to support our trip to Kazemba, any donations would really be greatly appreciated.
I will be sharing my fundraising journey on this page, as well as more information about my trip to Zambia.
Thank you,
Carys X

6 years agoFollowing an extremely successful Jumble Sale, a Pub Quiz, and of course the generous donations which I have received, I would like to express a huge thank you to those that have supported my fundraising efforts for Volunteer Zambia so far. In a month I have reached my half-way target, which is fantastic! I have set up another Just Giving Page which directly links my efforts to the University of St Andrews charity. This page includes my grand total for both online and offline donations; https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/carys-nuttall.
