    Story

lighting has now beeCastleton Volunteer Force is a group of people who want the best for the village of Castleton in Rochdale - the village has struggled over the past 10 years or so due to businesses closing and the growth of Manchester City centre - situated on the main train line between Leeds and Manchester - and located on the main driving route from Rochdale to Manchester we are in prime position to bring bsck the hey days of the 80/90s - not forgetting our beautiful underused canal.

Castletonians are very proud of their village and we feel this is the time to help bring back its former glories.

To start we will be looking into the below - this is where we need your help.

    1. Improve the old tennis courts at chesham park - i.e. where a great friend andy reid is trying to get some lighting and improved surface patches to ensure his rugby lads have somewhere to train - chesham ladies have also asked whether they could do fitness training as well.

    2. In partnership with rochdale in bloom we aim to help more old friends sisters karen pilkington and ann marie kent ensure castleton train station and the rest of the village is kept at its best. - the girls require flowers, wooden basket, paint, wood and all types of items to make the village pretty.

    3. Pete kelly and his wife Joanne from the commercial pub have done a tremendous job bringing the community pub spirit back to the village - pete and friends would like a rememberance wall on the village green to back up the rest of our improved area.
