Hello, I'm Betty, I'm a Boston Terrier and I am two years old. I have growth deformities in my skeleton meaning I cannot enjoy the usual joys of being able to walk properly, jump, sit properly or play with my brothers as I wish to. My femur bones have grown bowed which make it difficult for me to walk or sit comfortably. As a result my kneecaps have turned outwards to compensate for the way I have to stand. My mummy tries to keep me happy, I have a carry bag and a pushchair for when we go on long walks with my brother Borris...but I do wish I could walk like him. I cannot climb the stairs and have to navigate around the house with ramps, I also get picked up a lot but it is still uncomfortable as my legs do not bend in the right way. I have had a CT scan to determine the problem and the specialist says he can fix me by cutting chunks of bone from my femurs to straighten them up and then straightening my kneecaps. Unfortunately both of my legs need surgery and my mummy needs help in order to enable me to have a better quality of life. Because my condition is genetic, the insurance company won't pay out which means I am doing the best I can to get by for now. My condition also affects my appetite, most days I don't feel like eating and my mummy has to feed me through a syringe, I used to weigh 4.8kg and now I only weigh 3.15kg as the pain has gotten worse as I have gotten older. We would really appreciate any help towards the surgery, to enable me to have a pain free, comfortable life. Please help us if you can...x
