Story
On Sunday 29th April, Catherine will be supporting a team of residents from Botton Village to swim 5km (200 lengths) as part of the Swimathon at Whitby Leisure Centre. As a community, the residents decided that they wanted to support their community bike scheme project. This will help to provide access to different parts of the village, increase health and fitness and overall well being for the residents.
Botton is home to over 150 people including around 90 adults with a learning disability. The village and its farms nestle in Danby Dale in the beautiful North York Moors National Park. It's not far to the towns of Teesside in one direction and Whitby, Scarborough and the Yorkshire coast in the other.Founded in 1955 Botton was the first Camphill centre to offer opportunities to adults with learning disabilities and other special needs.
Botton also provides non-residential day services which Catherine is a part of. She works and trains at Botton care farm twice a week, helping with the gardening and farming activities. Catherine has been welcomed into the Botton Community and regularly takes part in group discussions about plans for the village.
Please support me in my Swimathon challenge to help raise funds towards the Botton Bike Scheme. Thank you x
