Story
Emma St Community Cafe & Takeaway Is based in the Tyisha area of Llanelli. Tyisha is one of the most deprived wards in Wales.
The cafe was set up to:
- provide residents with work experience/voluntary roles opportunities
- increase their chances of finding long term employment
- increase confidence and skills
- promote health and wellbeing by working in partnership with other organisations
- provide a place in the community for people to access the internet
- Help residents with job searching.
It is a pilot project by volunteer led social enterprise CETMA. CETMA receives no funding from anyone and is reliant upon its small commercial activities and some grant funds to trade.
CETMA volunteers would like to bring services back into the community by providing a place where residents can pop in for a tea or coffee, a friendly face and some advice and guidance.
We are looking to raise funds to help us:
- enhance and update the cafe equipment
- purchase equipment
- training fees
- a small salary for a manager for a short period
- help towards rent
Most of the major equipment in the cafe is not owned by us and could be taken away at any time. We badly require a new hot water system too.
Anything that you can give will be gladly appreciated and will go towards the cafe. Thank you.

Never let the actions of the misguided dampen your spirits. I hope the project will quickly recover from its recent setback.

The cafe will be a place that the residents can pop in for a cuppa or a chat. A place to learn, to meet the authorities for help or advice but most importantly a place for the community.
