    Story

Chew Magna Football Club are raising funds to purchase a piece of land to develop their own ground. At present the club has four teams including two veteran teams and has to hire pitches for home games at a great expense.

A new pitch will allow for the club to grow by running youth and female teams. Also the club will be able to play at a higher level by developing a ground to meet the requirements and involve more of the local and surrounding community to take an active roll in football, training and coaching.

Any contribution you can give however big or small will help us work towards our target and sustain our football club for future generations to enjoy.

Chew Magna FC was formed in the year 1948 to play in the Church of England League. They were runners up in division three 1950, division two 1951 and division one 1952.

Chew Magna FC then joined the Bristol Suburban League in 1953 where they stayed for 25 years. During this period the club won its only County trophy in the 1968/69 season when they won the Somerset Intermediate Cup by beating Filwood United 3-1 in the final that was played at Ashton Gate the home of Bristol City.

Chew Magna FC then joined the Bath and District League in 1978, playing there for three seasons until 1981.

In 1982 the club joined the Mid-Somerset League where the second team still play todate in division one. The first team were runners up in the premier division in 2013 and through the feeder league system joined the Somerset County League for the 2014 season where they are playing to date.

Chew Magna FC also have two veteran teams that play in the Bristol Casuals League. The 35s and over team was formed in 2013 and following an average first season finishing mid table they have had three successive promotions by winning division five 2014/15, runners up in division four 2015/16 and winning division three 2016/17. The team will be playing in division two for the 2017/18 season.

The 45s and over team was formed in 2015 and and following a difficult first season finishing in the bottom two had a better 2016/17 season finishing just above mid table.

Home games are played at Chew Valley School having played at various locations around Chew Magna during the earlier years following the clubs formation.

Please support this great club and any donations will be greatly received.
