Sonnabends chidrens centre is a non profit pre school in the town of Iringa in Tanzania. It is a life line for very vulnerable children in the area who are unable to attend government pre schools because of their family circumstances and poverty. The centre teaches the children how to read and write. It prepares them to begin formal education. without it they would not have to opportunity to progress to primary school and beyond. We take education for granted in the west. But for children living in povery it is their one ticket towards a brighter future for themselves, their families and the community.

Not only does the centre provide education and food during school hours. It also provides security and support for the children and their families 24/7. Sonnabends also supports children who have no families.

The centre is run by Isaack Philemon. Isaack teaches the children and funds the school by tour and safari guiding out of term time. He sometimes receives donations from his friend in Germany. He spent his last donation on materials to make bricks to pave the outside of the building.

Isaack has big plans for Sonnabends. He wishes in the future to expand and have multiple classes and taking on more of the poorest children in the area. However the current building is in need of vital repairs to the walls and floors. It doesn't have a working kitchen, water or electric.

I had the pleasure of meeting Isaack when I volunteered with ICS earlier in the year. I spent time at the centre, speaking to him and meeting the children. The groundwork for something extraordinary and life changeing is underway. But Isaack and his students need some help to get there
