We are raising money to help support the Bulindi Chimpanzee and Community Project in Hoima in Uganda. The Bulindi chimpanzees are one of the many imperilled chimpanzee communities clinging to survival in disappearing habitat surrounding the Budongo Forest Reserve in Western Uganda.

Local farmers in this part of Uganda live in poverty; they cut down forest to plant crops and sell the timber to raise money. As such, these chimps are under threat from deforestation throughout the region. The project works with the local community to address this issue by supporting local households in key areas by sponsoring schoolchildren and supporting small household projects such as house construction. They also support forest enrichment planting which aims to replenish the forest with natural foods for chimpanzees - reducing crop raiding and the effects of chimpanzee/human conflict.

So how can you help?
Chimp Management Ltd are sending three employees out to help the project in Hoima in August 2017. Angel, Cathy and Jess are hoping to raise £750 for the project, with all funds going directly to the charity. Every little helps so please do help us in supporting this great cause, here is what you can help buy with your donation:
$10 - buys a school uniform for a high school student
$25 - provides 5 energy-saving stoves for local households
$50 - buys hundreds of tree seedlings
$75 - covers a one month salary for a tree nursery attendant
$100 - pays one full year of elementary school fees for two children
$150 - results in 10kg of coffee seedlings
$200 - covers a one month salary for a local forest & chimp monitor
$250 - pays for a full year of tuition, uniform & supplies for one high school student
