This summer I am going to Madagascar for four weeks to work on two different charity projects. Initially I am going to a rural village to work on the Mojo Water Project where I will be helping to get a water supply to the village - literally digging trenches! My team and I will be laying several miles of pipes into the village from the water source in the National Park. Afterwards I am going to the Akany Avoko children’s orphanage to help teenage mothers look after their young children.

Madagascar is the second poorest country in the world so poverty is very high. It is projects like these that change the lives of people who live there and I can’t wait to go and do what I can to help their communities.

I was required to raise at least £3,700 to contribute to the project and to cover my costs – the emphasis being on me raising the money myself! So far I have raised just under £3000 through various methods including hosting a fund raising party at home and auctioning my services to cook and waitress! This weekend I am doing a 10K sponsored Rough Run (Rough Run is an obstacle course challenge, combining distance running with a variety of obstacles along the way) hopefully to complete my fund raising task.
