In June 2018, I will be travelling to Malawi with around 30 other S5 pupils from my school, Williamwood High, to help repair schools and classrooms for young children.
The school runs this project every 2 years. Every year there is huge interest and pupils must enter their name into a ballot......thankfully I was lucky to have been selected!
We are travelling to the busy town of Ekwenedeni, in the northern region of Malawi. Unfortunately it has one of the highest HIV/AIDS prevalence rates in Malawi and children often live in very poor conditions.
In conjunction with the Malawi Educational Partnership we shall be helping to renovate and build classrooms, take part in teaching and sports activities within the schools, and be involved in charity work such as classroomsformalawi.org
The cost for such a trip is obviously very high, so the pupils and school shall be taking part in numerous fund raising activities.
I've decided to take part in the Glasgow Women's 10K on 4 June 2017. Anyone who knows me, will realise this is a massive undertaking as I'm not the most sporty of people!! So between now and the race I'll be following a running plan, with a bit of help from my mum, to get me into shape for the big day.
Any donations would be most welcome and greatly appreciated.
There has even been word of a sky dive fundraiser.....just not sure yet if my mum would be too happy about that!
