Sanctus is a cafe in Chelmsford who provide free meals and hot drinks for homeless and disadvantaged individuals. This cafe is mainly run by volunteers who cook and clean out of their own time. We provide a hot meal, sandwiches and cakes which are donated to us by local companies to aid our cause. Furthermore, we provide them with clothes, duvets, tents and sleeping bags which are kindly donated by different people around town. Homelessness is an ongoing issue within Chelmsford, due to this we try to provide somewhere warm that they can come and stay in for the day as well as advice for the people who come here. Moreover, we provide support and advice which can help them get back on their feet. Many of the individuals who come here express to us that it is a 'God send' to them that we are here and the work that we do for them.

Due to this cafe being a charity the funds can be low and it can be difficult for us to maintain the essential funds to run this cafe. We set up group activities that the individuals can join in with, such as music club, book club, art club and have regular visits from REED. One of the main funds that we receive is from the owner Steve who works to keep this cafe running, however, he is 70 years old and may not be able to keep doing this. We would be eternally grateful if you could donate anything to us to help us keep providing the work and support that we give these individuals. We are the only cafe in Chelmsford that provides this for them, often food would be something that as people we would take for granted until we are in a situation that they have found themselves in.
