On September 1st we’re helping the ACE (acute care of the elderly) team at Pinderfields Hospital raise money by abseiling down Wakefield Cathedral.

The Monies Raised from this Campaign will go to the Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE) Unit Fund at Pinderfields General Hospital.

The new Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE) unit opened in September 2017 at Pinderfields General Hospital, it provides care for individuals who are frail and vulnerable who may require further support and assessments to promote a safe and timely discharge. We recognised as a unit we need to generate income to enable us to take our service to a higher level for providing individualised care, therefore as a team we decided to run the Wakefield Cathedral abseil event in the hope of generating income to support us in achieving our goal for the benefit of our Patients and Families.

Our aspirations include creating a welcoming Patient and Family room, this will enable us to deliver a more dignified and private space whereby the Clinicians can work with Patients and family in a time of need. This will also enable us to offer a service where Families can also stay close to their loved ones during difficult times of need. If we reach our goal and exceed our target then we would be looking to purchase equipment which could support those with minimal visitors, who we actively want to encourage to remain engaged and stimulated during their admission.
