In Oshimili South LG Delta State Nigeria few political leaders loot and squander money and resources meant for community development. They pay citizens pittens worth 50p, create artificial hardship and hunger by withholding funds, which they use to buy over citizens' votes during elections- giving out bags of rice and next to nothing cash donations called 'empowerment'

Citizens are wrongly enticed to constantly vote in corrupt politicians into leadership positions lasting 4 years per term in office. This amounts to modern day bondage and slavery by proxy.

The Unsuspecting citizens then have to endure hardship, with no basic facilities and infrastructure to carry out their daily economic activities. So they are faced with a vicious cycle of poverty, leading to social crimes like assassinations and kidnappings as means of survival.
