On 23rd April I will be running the London Marathon, 26.2 miles around the streets of London.

As part of the event I would like to raise as much money as possible to help Ollie, a young boy who lives in my local community, who is battling cancer. He is currently undergoing specialist treatment, known as “The Vienna protocol” or “MEMMAT”, that cannot be obtained through the NHS.

It has been amazing to see how the local (and wider) community have got together to raise funds for Ollie over the last few months. However, his treatment will carry on for the next two years so more money is still needed to ensure that it can all be funded.

As a mother myself of an 11 year old boy, I would only hope that as many people would do the same and help towards saving the life of a child.

I have not run for over a year and the furthest I have ran before is 10 miles. However over the last few weeks I have been working towards my training plan that will continue until the week before the marathon. I will be running 4/5 times per week, including a long run at the weekend which will steadily get longer as my fitness improves.
I will be running the Silverstone half marathon on the 12th March, to see how I am progressing, whilst getting a feel for race conditions.

I will be posting updates about how the training is going! Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
