The former Height Youth Club premises, behind the Height library, has bee abandoned and boarded up for the last three years. Yet the building is in remarkably good condition, despite a leaking roof and an air of dereliction. While the Council are looking to lease the building to the newly formed Claremont Community Centre Campaign Group ,we will need to find the money to restore it to its former glory.

Once restored, Claremont should once more have a large hall with a fully equipped stage for theatre productions, a sprung floor for dance and exercise classes and an ideal venue for children’s parties and Youth Club sessions. The kitchen will be refurbished to provide a cafe open to the public and catering for groups using the centre. Two meeting rooms on the ground floor and a fully equipped training room upstairs will be available for hire by local groups and businesses..Already over £600 has been spent obtaining a full building survey that the Council were unable to provide and further expenditure will be required in completing applications for grant aid.
