Support the Memory of a Young Local Hero

Here's your chance to support a major historical landmark in North Tyneside-a new play that sets the record straight on one of the most important incidents of World War 2 (as depicted in the above painting by Michael Roffe).

'Fire and Water-The Thomas Brown Story' recounts how 15 year old Thomas Brown swam out in pitch darkness to a sinking Nazi U boat and helped rescue vital Enigma codebooks, possibly shortening the war by two years. The full length play, written by Peter Mortimer and directed by Neil Armstrong will be performed at The Exchange, North Shields, NE30 1SE between November 1st and 6th, 2021.

We are raising funds to enable the play to reach its full potential. We believe that this story of a humble young man's bravery deserves to be told, and told well. This video featuring Jensen Gray as Everywoman tells more....
