Hi,
My name is Col, the reason for the fundraising is to purchase an ergonomically designed sports wheelchair to help Chantelle enjoy sports once again.
Chantelle is my partners daughters friend, they have been friends since preschool, through primary and secondary years, Chantelle was unfortunate to be diagnosed with a degenerative disease that has slowly taken her ability to walk away from her and now made her wheelchair dependant at the age of 17.
This disease is in its early stages and whilst it is Chantelle can still compete in sports and she has just found that she has a talent at wheelchair basketball.
Keeping active will assist Chantelle in staying as mobile as possible and personally everyone should have the chance in competing in sport to the best of their ability and this chair really will aid that.
The plan is to do a charity Skydive, this being on the 16th of August.
I was never really one for heights, but have overcome this by persistence and having to now, being a retained firefighter and scared of heights don't go together ! I also work in a leisure centre for 17 years as lifeguard and fitness instructor and coach, I have always had a passion for sport and I'd hate to see Chantelle's potential disappear so thought I could assist by throwing myself out a plane and hopefully raising some money or even better all of it.
