My name is Alfie. At 3 months old my owners of 3 weeks were given the option of driving me two hours to a specialist vets with an est. of £3000 or putting me to sleep. I was admitted with acute onset of lethargy, urinary straining & obstruction. A scan revealed bilateral ectopic ureters, bilateral kidney infection, distension of the kidneys & ureters. My bladder was flushed several times & I was catheterised. I was given anti biotics & pain relief. My urine was tested & found I had a horrdous infection which can make the PH higher than normal leading to stone formation. I have bilateral ectopic ureters which means the tubes from my kidneys to my bladder attach to the bottom of my bladder instead of the top. As a result my urine can go back up my tubes causing kidney infection. I guess my organs are infecting me from the inside. This is a birth defect, rhe infection has been escalating since birth. The stones formed were filling my bladder & obstructing my ability to pee. Luckily I was insured to £4000 per illness. BUT I if I'm going to survive I need an operation to reposition my tubes so I don't infect my kidneys & slowly lose my basic functions & ultimately die uncomfortably. I have spent over £2500 in vet bills & my operation is going to cost £4-4500. As soon as my infection has cleared I can have the operation, be pain free & live a normal life. I'm a happy dog &!enjoy everything other puppys do. I've learnt to sit & stay already & am working on giving a paw.... my owners need your help to give me a chance & cover my vet bills not covered by the insurance. They will be holding events to help save me! If you can spare anything at all I'd really appreciate being able to live, without infection or pain. I'm a fighter & I've put up with so much already without complaint. I hope you can help.
