From 10th-12th May, I will be part of a group of determined cyclists setting off from the Vitality Stadium in Bournemouth bound for Turf Moor in Burnley on a 285 mile cycle ride. We are planning to do this in just 3 days with night stops in Cirencester and Stafford. This is the return leg – this is a reverse of the same challenge completed last year raising over £20,000 in total. As with last time, all funds raised will go directly to the Barry Kilby Prostate Cancer Appeal. Former BFC Chairman and current BFC Vice-Chairman Barry Kilby set up this fund following his own battle with Prostate Cancer. He has funded Prostate Cancer testing days at Blackburn Rovers, Preston North End and Burnley with amazing results. Some men who displayed no signs of illness were found to have Prostate Cancer and were given the relevant treatment. Barry firmly believes that using football stadia for this purpose takes the stigma away from this test and encourages groups of men to come down to be tested. It is certainly working so far. Prostate cancer has no colours.
