I am part of a group of 6th Form students from the Royal Latin School in Buckingham fundraising to take part in an Outlook expedition to Tanzania in July 2017.

During the trip we will be helping in the renovation of a school which gives us an opportunity to really help and make a difference to the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves.

Helping the local community in this way is, in my opinion, the most worthwhile benefit from the expedition. However, I am also looking forward to improving skills such as communication, problem solving & leadership as well as learning to travel safely & gaining an in-depth understanding of other cultures.

In order to take part in the trip, each of us has to raise £3,095 which covers the expenses of getting us there and back, accommodation, food, administrative costs and the expenses relating to the project in which we are involved, i.e. the school renovation.

I am organising various fund-raising events, such as a Quiz night and a Games night amongst other activities, over the coming months as well as working on a part-time basis alongside my studies to raise the funds.

I have already raised £1165 through my part-time work, a Phoenix Trading evening, a raffle at TUI UK offices in Luton and other fundraising activities and therefore my target on here has been revised to £1930. I will post regular updates as I raise more funds offline from this page. If I raise more than the total required, I will donate the excess to Dementia UK - a cause close to the hearts of my family.

Any donation, however small is greatly appreciated - from little acorns great oak trees grow.
