    Story

My name is Daniel Flynn and I have suffered from cerebral palsy since birth. Everyday my life is a struggle everything that everybody else takes for granted from getting out of bed to putting my socks on. I used to be able to transfer from my chair but due to my condition I'm no longer able to do this as easy. My health has deteriorated and weight gain is something that I tried to control but spiralled out of control. I also have a young son who I would like to be able to take out without having to rely on other people. I do take him out in my car but when it comes to leaving the car my options are limited. I have decided to set up this page to help me purchase a hand cycle which will not only give my health a boost but means I can plan days out and socialise with my son and improve my independence.

My parents found out about my disability at 12 months old. After a time they began to raise money after hearing about the peto institute in Hungary. With my dad I attended various places, the peto institute Hungary, peto style summer camps in Leeds and a private Hungarian conductor in Halifax for many months.

I attended a special school until I was 5 years old then started at primary school. This was followed by a middle then upper school, which meant going to different schools than my able bodied peers.

I have had a variety of aids to help me with my walking including a new style walking frame invented by a local engineer in the Bradford area.

Physio help along with other help stopped once I reached 16.

Began driving at 17 using hand controls as I was unable to use my legs. I have now been driving for 11 years.

My disability has got worse over the years and now spend most of my time in a wheelchair, which I received through wheelchair services however it is still bulky and can be difficult to control.

My parents, when I was younger, purchased a special 3 wheeler pedal bike. This gave me greater independence allow me to travel with my friends.

The reason for my crowd funding is to purchase a hand cycle. It will allow me not to use car as muc giving me that greater independence. It will also be good for exercise. Stuck in my current chair is taking its toll. I've put on a great deal of weight causing more health issues.
