    Story

    Darcy’s story!

Why the Neonatal Unit you may ask?

Here's Darcy's story, my daughter was born at 23 weeks gestation weighing less than 1lb back in July 2016. We spent 18 weeks (124 days) in the hospital with her. She is a prime example that miracles really do happen, but of course not with out the help of the wonderful doctors, surgeons and nurses. She was given a 2% chance of survival having suffered a large bleed on her brain on both sides, having a problem with her heart requiring surgery at 3 weeks old and so many other complications due to being born so small and so early. The consultants at the Princess Anne Hospital Southampton and Queen Alexander Hospital Portsmouth are blown away at the strength and determination of her to make it home for christmas. Darcy was the 1st baby in over 10 years to survive being born at 465g and 23 weeks gestation. We were told to expect the worse almost everyday but she continued to fight and show strength. Being in that situation for such a long time changes you as a person. I feel that this fundraiser is the ideal way to help pay back a little for saving my beautiful daughters life.

Please help me raise some money as a thank you to all the truly wonderful consultants, nurses doctors and everyone who saved our girl. With a 2% chance of survival it’s starting to sink in for us just how lucky we are to have her here with us today!! There is no amount of money that can pay for the gratitude we have for the NICU but anything we can give them would be amazing! Thank you all for your support 💜

We would love so very much to spread awareness and thanks to the unit with your help.
