I started to get more motivated to go the gym after a bit of a difficult period with myself, some 18mths ago, and feel the better for it. I was also introduced to 5k Park runs after visiting my daughter Natalie, in February this year, doing the Crystal Palace Park run. I have since done 13 park runs.. In recent months, and must say I am getting the bug for running.

I have seen the impact of Cancer, and Sepsis in recent times. Katie Louise Dawson (38yrs)was a cousin to the family, who battled tirelessly against breast cancer, but sadly last her fight recently, leaving behind her two young children, husband and family. A former work collegue also sadly lost her battle with cancer this year. My son Alfie (14yrs)plays football for Leek CSOB, and earlier this year their team mate Dylan Day passed away after suddenly getting Sepsis.. I could not believe the news when we found out that this lad was battling with his life. Both funerals I attended and were both extremely emotional.

I enjoy my park running at present at Hanley Park ( and Brough Park in Leek) and recently saw the Dougie Mac Stoke 10k run advertised, starting and finishing at Hanley Park, which interested me. So i have decided to register and to do this as a challenge to me, and thought I would also like to raise a little money as well and donate this in honour of Katie and Dylan, and others, and to support Mental Health, Cancer and Sepsis charities in a small way, thats all....x
