I am taking part in the Hull 10k run on 10th June 2018 to raise funds for the Beverley Stroke Club at Millers Day Centre in Beverley.

The Stroke club meets monthly and aims to create a support network for stroke sufferers in the local area, many of whom have had to rebuild their lives following their stroke.

This organization is close to my heart as it has been an invaluable service to my father (Peter Emerton) who had a severe cerebral stroke in 2011. The stroke club helped him come to terms with this forced lifestyle change.

Being an extremely social person, my dad sorely missed being around people in the first few years but the Stroke club gave him an opportunity to meet many other people and gives him something to look forward too.

He is still an attendee to the club and I am sure is one of the loudest characters the club has ever had.

Any money that is raised will be used to improve and enhance the activities and facilities the members use every week. The club is run purely on donations so any help is always appreciated.

For myself, I have never taken part in any form of running challenge or a physical competition of any kind. You are more likely to find me in a BBQ steakhouse then a gym however I wanted to do something that really challenged me to show my dedication to this cause.

I have been in training since January and will continue to do so for the big day. I have no targets or times in mind, only that I finish the race which will be hard enough.

I will be running the race with my mother (for moral support) so please donate anything you can to help spur us on :)
