Story
My brother David was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2014. He underwent a major operation and was left with a stoma bag. After undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy he was given the all clear at the beginning of 2016. To celebrate, David and his girlfriend, Nicole and mother to their 7 month old baby girl, Lucy decided to book their wedding for 2018.
After a routine check-up he was told that the cancer had returned and spread. They brought their wedding forward to September 2016 with the help of the charity Gift of a wedding. They had a venue booked and everything was looking good.
Unfortunately David ended up in Hospital. After the doctors carried out further tests he was told that it would be a good idea to bring the wedding forward as he was unlikely to make it to September.
The bride and groom, along with the help of Gift of a wedding had just 9 days to throw a wedding together.
With the generosity of all the public they managed it and tied the knot on Friday 12th August 2016.
Like many youngsters David did not arrange life insurance and now its too late.
I am looking to raise money for their little girl Lucy who is now 13 months old.
