    Story

    Saving a Field

Just a short time ago, although it feels a lot longer, I joined a group of women whose sole aim was to save Jubilee Field from the threat of housing! We had no real plan, no in depth knowledge of the process, but what we did have was passion and determination and a love for Jubilee Field. Ensuring it stayed as an open community space, in perpetuity, was our goal.

In the last 8 months we have gained Asset of Community Value status for Jubilee Field; successfully defended the application after a challenge by the landowners (Parish Council); called a moratorium when the landowners notified South Northants Council of their intention to dispose of the Field; set up a Community Benefit Society; notified SNC of our intention to bid and launched a share offer to raise funds to bid for the Field. Phew!

The share document was something we had help with, but agonised over every word, before sending for Standard Mark approval, and then to print ready for our recent launch day. The support we had along the way has been amazing - we could not have got this far without it. The share offer closes on 18 May 2018 and is open to all, regardless of location.

I am using Just Giving to help raise funds to cover the costs associated with the share offer and hopefully, the subsequent purchase of the Field. I am Treasurer of Friends of Jubilee Field.

Every little helps, £2 from everyone would be amazing.(That’s the minimum donation Just Giving will support).

Today in Jubilee Field, bugle and cowslip, just two of the many wildflowers you can find if you take a closer look. Just £2 would make all the difference and help to save Jubilee Field for future generations.

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated, and so quickly. Jubilee Field is brilliant. A natural open space where you can sit and relax or run through the grass. Wildlife, wildflowers, a willow tunnel, trees, butterflies and birds, a panoramic view ..... I could go on for ages:-)

I hope the Parish Council have the decency to keep the field - by whatever means.
