Story
Our dear friend Mikey was diagnosed in December with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Here are the scientific facts; MND affects nerve cells found in the brain and spinal cord, leading to muscle weakness and a gradual loss of all motor function. It is a cruel degenerative disease that attacks without mercy and progresses aggressively and indiscriminately. MND is a terminal illness with no cure.
But we aren’t scientists. We are the friends and family of Mikey, one of the most sincere people we could ever have been fortunate enough to have met. Regardless of how we feel about Mikey's devastating diagnosis of MND he remains brave, dignified and full of kindness and joy. He inspires us every day with his positive outlook, his uplifting smile and his sense of humour despite his condition. The physical and mental challenges are not something that we can halt over the coming months, however the practical challenges are something we can help with.
Mike and Menna’s family home is a Victorian terrace that they have lovingly and carefully made into place that they have lived since they moved in together in 2009 and then married in 2012. Since then they have spent considerable time and money creating their very own warm and welcoming space that would accommodate their family now and into the future.
Unfortunately the future is now a very different reality and the house simply won’t accommodate Mikey as he becomes more immobile and there are a number of changes that are needed. Funding is limited and the process is not designed to accommodate rapidly progressing disease – the required adaptions either won’t be funded or the money will arrive too late.
Time is of the essence. Let's get the ball rolling people! FOR MIKEY x

Work also commences this week to level out the side of the property, giving Mikey wheelchair access (thanks to Richard Orr). We continue to support Mikey & as many of you may have seen, I am hosting a party for him on Friday 7th July! He would love to thank everyone I am sure, so invite your friends & join us for music, drinks and dancing - tickets available now xxx
