    Story

This project is now completed the total £75,000 having been raised. Work will finish March 2022.. The bells at St George Didbrook represent one of the best periods of English bell founding and are a joy to hear. They are arguably one of the finest sounding rings in the Cotswolds. However, without urgent restoration work, the bells are tower may soon decay and fall silent. A scheme has been conceived which will restore the bells to prime condition, waterproof and wire the tower, and create safe access for visitors and ringers.

Stage two of the works, to restore the bells, are now well underway. The bells have been removed from the tower, the ancient framework strengthened, chemically treated and painted, a new floor built and the final works to waterproof the tower and complete. This week see new lighting installed and February will see the bells return and installed. The total cost will be in the region of £80,000, which could not have been achieved without your support. Thank you!

I live in the village and feel it would be a sad day if the bells were left silent for lack of support, so my donation is gladly given.

My mother (Joan Launchbury}) and my uncle (Grove Spencer) are residents of the graveyard and I am sure that the bells will be a comfort to them when repaired.
