'I can't' /'I won't' are the excuses that we have all used in the past, haven't we? In our minds, we have a perception of what we can do or achieve. This defines our boundaries and anything outside those boundaries challenges us.

But there are some people who not only challenge those boundaries but redefine them every single moment they breathe.

Meet this amazing team of dancers who are visiting the UK. Jayalakshmi (visually challenged), Usha (visually challenged), Lingaraj (visually challenged), Sridevi (speech and hearing challenged) and Manasa (speech and hearing challenged). This team of 5 artists will tour the UK, showcase their talent and redefine the 'normal' perceptions of what our bodies can or can not do.

What makes them different is not whether they can see or hear or speak; what makes them different is who they have chosen to be despite the challenges they have. Isn't that inspiring?

They are supported by an amazing organisation called Samarthanam. Samarthanam means ‘support or empowerment’. Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled aims to support and empower disabled or differently-abled people.

Here is a picture of the team as they arrived at the Gatwick Airport earlier today. They are accompanied by Buse Gowda, who is a visually impaired dancer of international repute. They will straight away travel to Stanley; their performances start tomorrow.
