Story
This is what it's like going upstairs to bed every night where I rent now. It takes 5 minutes (if I'm lucky) going up just 9 stairs backwards on my bum, clutching onto the grab rails for dear life. It's scary!.
After months of searching, I’ve finally found a disability-adapted bedsit in a building of 23 apartments designed for disabled people. It’s on one level, with panic alarms on site, and a wet room. That’s the good news. The very bad news is that I can’t afford to move there without your help.
It’s often said that MS is an ‘invisible’ disability, because it’s not as obvious as some other disabilities. But I can assure you that it’s very real for me, and totally debilitating.
I need to buy blinds, a cooker, and fridge (total £1,350). Someone said that blinds are available at Ikea for £40. Yes, they are, but not for these high windows, and not operated electronically because I can’t reach up. I’ve had a very competitive quote for £750). I also have to pay 2 rents at the same time, for my existing home (£745 a month) while I pay the notice period, and the rent for the new bedsit (£600 a month). I have to pay for removal costs (£300), and need some leg braces (£231), and regular osteopathy (£170/mth). I don't have any money, so am asking for your help please.
To start with, this all added up to a frightening £8,900. I simply don’t have the money. But, I’ve made cuts, like totally cutting out the mobility scooter, which brings the total I need down from an initial £9,300 down to just over half that at £5,000.
I still don’t have anything like that money!
If you're kind enough to donate £20 or more,I'll email you 2 of my recipe e-books that normally sell for £4.99 each.
I hate having to ask for your help, but I have no other option. I’ve spent months talking to the Council and the NHS, and they’ve contributed everything they say they can.
If this campaign exceeds its target, (which I hope your kindness will enable it to) the money will be put to very good use. As my condition is degenerative, I will certainly have the need for lots of other disability help in the future.
Without your kind support I won’t be able to move, and I don’t know what I’ll do. I will almost certainly end up homeless. Not a good situation to be in for anyone, especially being badly disabled.
Although I’m asking for your help now, I help a lot of people online, as my Facebook food page,My Easy Suppers now has over 22,000 fans. However, it doesn’t make me any money! Many people have called me inspirational, and both able-bodied and disabled people say I really help them by showing what I can do against very big odds. Even the MS Society published an article about me on their website community blog. Here's a video I made 6 months ago, before I had a wheelchair.
Although I'm asking for your help now, I help a lot of people online, as my Facebook food page, My Easy Suppers, now has nearly 22,000 fans. But it doesn’t make me any money! Many people have called me inspirational, and disabled people say I really help them by showing what I can do against very big odds. Even the MS Society published an article about me on their website blog . Of course, my 24/7 MS doesn’t make me feel in the slightest bit inspirational! Here's a video I made 6 months ago, before I had a wheelchair .
Even though I am in a very bad way physically, so long as I have access to a computer, the internet, and a roof over my head, I can continue to help people with My Easy Suppers . I have 700 supper photos on file, and the same number of unpublished recipes. In fact, I'm just going to launch The Easy Suppers Club , that will publish a new recipe every day. I may be unable to walk, but I can help people cook!
I hope you will help me now. If you can’t, or don’t want to, donate, please share this link with everyone you know. Thank you in advance.

I have a chronic disability, MS, and am in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. My right leg is in a permanent Z-shape and I can't stand at all! There are loads of other unpleasant things about MS, but I don’t want to spoil your day, so I won’t go into detail!
