As I am drawing closer to the end of my 1ST Mosque in Guadeloupe Project - tomorrow 20.09.17- , the Caribbean is being battered by Hurricane Maria, causing destruction and despair - Dominica has just been devastated and Guadeloupe is being hit too at this very minute - ....May Allah Swt protect everone' s life in the whole region. Ameen.

Insha'Allah, with Allah Swt ' s Mercy and Help, I will carry on raising awareness about the Muslims in Guadeloupe' s need for an official mosque and reactivate this Page as of early October.

As you know the primary purpose of the mosque is to serve as a place where Muslims can come together for prayer.
A mosque also brings the community together as it acts as a madrassah offering Quranic and Arabic classes, a study centre for people who want to learn about Islam, a social centre etc welcoming both old and new members.

CURRENT SITUATION :

This is what the Muslims in Guadeloupe urgently need to accommodate their growing population and visitors from abroad like myself, a revert to Islam from Christianity since 1987 alhamdulillah.

Their current places of worship - mostly flats and few in numbers - can fit only 30-50 people and lack women 's prayer spaces as well as washroom and ablution areas.

They further encounter frequent problems of roof leaks due to tropical heavy rainfall.

FIRST TARGET:

The Association Al Kitab, based in Les Abymes, Guadeloupe has a first target of 120 000.00 euros to buy a land or an old building to renovate for the 1st Mosquée de la Guadeloupe project. So far they have received over 12000.00 euros. The total cost of building the mosque is 500 000.00 euros.
